There is no magic time to stop eating in the evening (except for when you are no longer hungry!). However, if you suffer from heartburn, it's best not to lie down for at least two hours after eating. In addition, if you are an evening snacker, you may just end up eating too many calories and thus gain weight. But as long as you are eating the appropriate number of calories, then calories that you eat in the evening aren't any more likely to make you gain weight than calories eaten any other time of the day.
Before you grab an evening snack, check in with yourself to see if you are actually hungry.
