Well... the answer in short, NO.
You can not reverse your age for obvious reasons BUT you can look and (more importantly) feel younger than your age. One of the main reasons we age is inflammation.
Inflammation isn't all bad as it's great at working as a protective mechanism. It counters infection and injury creating stiffness and swelling so the body has time to heal while also guarding against re-injury. It also raises body temperature to kill off harmful and deadly bacteria.
In our hectic and polluted society most of us tend to have too many triggers for inflammation which are not helpful to our overall health and looks. Most of the time these triggers are subtle creating a constant mild amount of stress and inflammation. These include visible wear-and-tear, such as; wrinkles, muscle wasting, and cataracts, as well as a multitude of diseases including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, cancer, heart and cardiovascular disease, diabetes, arthritis, and cirrhosis. Many things bring on inflammation such as:
-Oxidation (Lack of antioxidants)
-Sleep deprivation
-Trans fats (a big problem, given that Americans consume a shocking 80lbs of processed vegetable oil each year)
-Elevated blood sugar/insulin levels
-Nutrient deficiency (such as Vitamin D)
-Cigarette smoking
-Muscle damage through exercise
-Stress: physical, mental and emotional
-Sunburns
Given the influence of inflammation on so many diseases, adopting anti-inflammation strategies is strongly advised. With early intervention adopting an anti-inflammatory way of being may both stop and reverse the cognitive decline associated with ageing. Some of these strategies include:
-Exercise (making sure not to over train)
-Carbohydrate Control -to balance out blood sugar levels
-Antioxidants (I like Zyflammend by New Chapter)
-Sleep (8-9 hours of uninterrupted)
-Anti-inflammatories- include the following supplements: vitamins C, E, and D, Omega-3 fish oil, GLAs (evening primrose, Borage oil, and black currant oils), Curcumin, Holy Basil, Ashwaganda, Neem, Reiki Mushroom Extract, ginger, and zinc. (I like Zyflammend by NewChapter) -Anti-inflammatory foods include vegetables such as kale, seaweed, and greens, and fruits such as coconut, blueberries, olives, avocado, papaya, and pineapple. But keep in mind avoiding excessive sugar is also recommended, be it from fruits or even grain-fed beef.
