 We all know breakfast is an important meal.  Please enjoy these healthy and easy-to-prepare recipes!

 Apple Cinnamon Breakfast Bars

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 C bran buds cereal
  • 1/2 C flax meal
  • 1 C quick-cooking oats
  • 1 C grated apple
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 C slivered almonds
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 C low-fat milk or rice/soy milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 C canola oil
  • 1 tsp orange zest (optional)
  • 1/4 C brown sugar
  1. Preheat oven to 350F.  Lightly coat baking sheet with cooking spray or use parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl combine all the dry ingredients.
  3. In a smaller bowl combine all the wet ingredients.
  4. Stir the wet mixture into the dry and transfer to baking sheet.  Smooth down to an even layer.  Sprinkle with a little sugar or sea salt and place in the oven.
  5. Bake until a toothpick comes out clean- 30 minutes.  Cut into bars.

Green Smoothies

Ingredients(raw):

  • 2 C water
  • Few leaves of Kale
  • 1 Carrot
  • 1 ripe D'anjou Pear
  • 1 C blueberries
  • 3 leaves of Beet greens
  • 1 small beet for color
  • 1 small Orange or Satsuma

Combine all ingredients in a blender and enjoy!

You know you have to eat breakfast, right?  Yeah, yeah is starts your metabolism off and helps you get through any morning grays but couldn't it also be a pleasure?  For a change- try this fast and yummy breakfast from your blender.

Ingredients:

    * One banana
    * Large handful of strawberries (you can leave the stems on if your blender blends well)
    * One cup water, soy, almond, rice, cow or hemp milk
    * 1/2 cup dry oats
    * 1 Tbsp flax meal or whole flax seeds
    * 1 Tbsp wheat germ
    * Ice if you like to have it cold
    * (add protein powder if you like)
    * Try a sip and if you have to have it sweeter, add a little honey :)
