I have one vice……CHOCOLATE. My husband calls me a Chocolate Monster. I used to feel guilty every time I ate this sinfully delicious treat but not anymore. Now, after reading many studies, I have found peace with my pleasure.
Chocolate IS actually good for you! It is rich in flavonols. Flavonols are antioxidants that reduce inflammation, protect our arteries and men’s prostate glands and they are the same flavonols found in green tea and certain berries.
So my fellow Chocolate Monster friend, follow the rules below to feel guilt free when you grab your next bar....
Rule 1: Stick to no more than 1 oz of chocolate per day
Rule 2: The darker the chocolate, the better. Do not consume less than 73% cocoa. Organic/fair trade and free of hydrogenated oils is always best.
Rule 3: Do not consume with milk. Studies show that dairy blocks absorption of the healthful antioxidants. No milk chocolate!
