Pilates

Pilates is an integral component of Vera’s vision. We welcome all people of any age, fitness level, or experience into our community. Each class is designed with the intention to promote holistic wellness of mind, body and spirit. We offer a variety of classes, which are designed around physical exertion and challenge rather than experience level, however we always encourage students to establish a strong foundation so as to get more out of their practice. You can choose from gentle, moderate, or vigorous classes. See specific descriptions below or by selecting the class name on our schedule.

Pilates Basics :: Gentle

Pilates Basics introduces you to the fundamental principles of the full body conditioning practice of Pilates in a fun and supportive environment. Perfect for beginners and all those who want to focus on increasing core awareness and mind-body connections. Includes basic breathing practices as well as a variety of sitting, lying and minimal standing exercises. The focus of this class is on alignment, each week the instructor will choose a different area of focus allowing you to slowly build your knowledge of the essential elements of the practice over time and increase your success in more advanced mat Pilates and Fusion Fitness sessions.

Pilates :: Moderate

This 50 minute session focuses on the balance of promoting both strength and flexibility through precise movements that build core and control. It incorporates contemporary Pilates exercises, breath control, and detailed instruction to challenge each individual at their appropriate level. Expect transitions from the floor to standing, introduction to intermediate exercises, as well periods of exertion and rest.

Pilates :: Vigorous

This is a physically challenging 50 minute session intended to develop strength and endurance and will move at a faster pace incorporating intermediate exercises and introduction to some advanced work. Some familiarity with Pilates basics is recommended but all experience levels are welcomed as modifications to all poses are provided. Be prepared to build heat!
